In the Gospel of John, we find some of the most profound and mysterious statements ever uttered by Jesus. Seven times, He uses the phrase “I Am,” followed by a vivid metaphor. To the casual reader, these might seem like simple poetic descriptions. But to a student of the Word, these are seismic claims of divinity.
When Jesus says “I Am,” He is intentionally echoing the voice of God from the burning bush in Exodus 3:14: “I AM WHO I AM.” He isn’t just telling us what He does; He is telling us Who He Is.
Jesus used these titles to show that He is the total fulfillment of every human need.

Notice that Jesus does not say “I was” or “I will be.” He says “I Am.” As Pentecostal believers, this is vital to our walk. It means His power is not a historical memory or a future hope—it is a present reality.
If you are hungry for purpose today, He is your Bread.
If you are walking through a dark valley right now, He is your Light.
If you are facing a “dead” situation in your family or career, He is your Resurrection.
To truly live by the Spirit, we must move beyond knowing about Jesus to knowing Him as the “I Am” in our daily lives. When we abide in the Vine, His life-giving sap flows through us, producing fruit that remains.
Whatever you are lacking today, look to the Great I Am. He doesn’t just have the answer; He is the answer.
